Speaking at a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Chinese President Xi Jinping said the Chinese side continues to oppose the escalation of the Ukraine conflict and intends to contribute to ending hostilities. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
“China's stance on the Ukraine crisis is consistent. We hope the conflict situation will ease; we do not want to see the crisis spreading, the hostilities escalating,” said the President of the Republic of China.
He added that China will continue to play a constructive role in achieving a ceasefire.
On November 18, the Chinese Embassy in the United States condemned possible attacks by ATACMS missiles on the territory of the Russian Federation and any actions that could lead to an escalation of conflicts in Ukraine. The foreign ministry called on the parties to the conflict to “strive to facilitate a political solution to the Ukraine crisis through dialogue and negotiations and to make practical efforts to maintain peace.” .
