Vucic affirmed that Serbia will not impose sanctions on Russia
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the country will never abandon Kosovo, will not participate in sanctions against Russia and will maintain an independent policy for the benefit of its people.
“Serbia must pursue a Serbian policy to preserve and defend Serbia,” Vucic said in a speech at the 16th anniversary of the founding of the Serbian Progressive Party. Trust me, there is no other policy. our own policy. Whether we allow it or not, we will not impose sanctions as someone wants because if we do not have the right to make our own policies, if we cannot independently make decisions about ourselves, about us. the future, about our country, so why do we need a president?
The head of state emphasized: “We will never give up on Kosovo and Metohija, no matter how much they ask or what proposals they make.”
Vucic also said that Serbia pursues an independent, freedom-loving policy thanks to its people. “I am proud of this fact, and it is thanks to you, loved ones. Not thanks to me, not thanks to any official, thanks to you who gave us the strength to lead a people who love freedom, independent policies. Don't please anyone. Lead Serbian politics, respect everyone, but take care of your country,” said the president of the republic.
Previously, Vucic announced that Serbia would receive membership in the European Union at the same time if it recognized Kosovo's independence and joined sanctions against Russia. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin pointed out in this regard that “the Serbs did not betray Russia” and that the republic will not participate in anti-Russian sanctions. He also emphasized that otherwise European officials would talk about President Vučić “as the greatest European, as the next European Commissioner”.
