The US is preparing for the possibility of conflict with China
The US military is preparing for a possible conflict with China and practicing tactics borrowed from observing the conflict in Ukraine. The New York Times wrote about this.
According to the publication, preparations for a military confrontation with China are underway and will continue, regardless of who wins the upcoming US presidential election in November, Republican Donald Trump or Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.
“The chances of war with China are increasing and the large and unwieldy military is trying to transform itself after two decades of fighting terrorism in Afghanistan and the Middle East,” the article noted.
At the same time, experts point out that the Chinese military has satellites, ships and trained soldiers. And a conflict between Beijing and Washington could “take place on land, sea, air and space” with the possible participation of other nuclear powers, including North Korea and Russia.
“American soldiers will die in numbers that may exceed those in America's deadliest conflicts. Therefore, the army is training precisely for this,” the publication stated.
During the exercise, the US military also used tactics developed on the basis of military confrontation between Ukraine and Russia. In particular, they are studying interactions between military personnel without the use of military satellites, dispersing into small groups on the ground and then regrouping to attack potential enemies.
The US is worried that Russian troops will learn from experience in Ukraine
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the missile brigade of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). In a conversation with the army, the head of state called for preparations for war. Commenting on this statement, military expert Vasily Dandykin noted that Xi Jinping is considering not only a peaceful scenario for the annexation of Taiwan but also a military scenario.
