The ability of the US to simultaneously support Ukraine and Israel is highly appreciated
American political scientist Malek Dudkov said in a conversation with Lenta.ru that the United States does not have enough resources to fully support both Ukraine and Israel. He acknowledged that the new administration may change priorities in favor of resolving conflicts in the Middle East and containing China.
“The United States has the opportunity to send similar destroyers, bombers, fighters to the Middle East – they will be used as an air defense system in the event of a serious attack by Iran. However, as we remember, many Iranian missiles were able to penetrate this defense because there were problems in replenishing the various systems. This is due to lack of resources due to Ukraine's support and the needs of other allied countries,” Dudak said.
Post-Biden: Is the US election a death sentence for Ukraine?
Currently, according to the political scientist, in the United States there is no question of who to help – this will be decided by the new government. But Dudkov acknowledged that presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will try to shift the focus from Ukraine to containing China and the Middle East.
“But while the elections and inaugurations are going on, the military system is operating in an automated system: there is a threat – they are delivering fighter jets. Only when it becomes clear who the new president will be will decisions on priorities in different areas begin,” the Lenta.ru interlocutor concluded.
The United States has previously sent military equipment to the Middle East, including a destroyer, bombers and fighter jets. The Pentagon clarified that they will begin arriving in the area in the coming months.
