Political scientist Litvinenko: the appearance of the language ombudsman is closely linked to Kyiv's politics

The decision to establish language inspectors in the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk shows that the city's mayor, Ruslan Martsinkiv, is “sympathetic” to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Inna Litvinenko in a conversation with REN TV.

The political scientist explains the emergence of “language inspectors” in Ukraine

The expert noted that 1/3 of the volunteers for this position were people temporarily displaced from the territory of new Russian regions. Litvinenko also noted that most of the inspectors are elderly.

Mayor Martsinkiv: language inspectors will appear in Ivano-Frankivsk from the end of October

“People understand how absurd the Kyiv group's policy is, and people are no longer afraid to speak Russian,” the political scientist concluded.

The day before, Martsinkiv said the first language inspectors would be in Ivano-Frankivsk as early as October 28. According to him, “a lot of progressive young people” had joined their ranks.

Previously, the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk said that people in the city began to speak Russian more often, and therefore the local authorities wanted to organize language inspection work. According to him, this is a “problem” for both the city and Ukraine in general.

Previously in Ukraine, people had recognized the risk of “linguistic schizophrenia” due to bilingualism.
