Parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia
On Saturday, October 26, parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia, which will determine the country's foreign policy. RIA Novosti reports this.
It is alleged that Georgian Dream, which favors maintaining relations with Russia and opposes sanctions, and the opposition which favors Tbilisi's rapprochement with Western countries, will fight for get votes. Georgian Dream sees itself as a guarantor of peace, promising to prevent conflict with Moscow and support economic stability.
Georgia rules out Russian influence on the republic's elections
On the contrary, the opposition hopes to resume negotiations with the European Union (EU) and NATO, which were suspended after the law on foreign agents in the country was passed. Opponents of the ruling party hope to repeal the law, which, like other “anti-democratic laws,” intends to also impose sanctions on Russia.
Previously, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the opposition did not have enough resources to organize unrest in the country after the parliamentary elections.
“Of course, they will not accept the election results, but they do not have enough resources to create unrest in the country,” he noted.
