Oldest American woman dies at age 115
In the United States, 115-year-old Elizabeth Francis, who was recognized as the country's oldest resident in February, passed away. The New York Post reported this news.
Frances was born in 1909 in Louisiana. At the age of 11, she lost her mother and was raised by relatives. In her teens, the American helped her aunt and after more than 20 years she managed a coffee shop at KTRK-TV in Houston, Texas. Particularly loved by the staff are the cakes as well as the chicken and dumplings that Frances always prepares herself.
In recent years, this woman lived in Houston in the house of her daughter, who herself is 95 years old. On July 25, Frances celebrated her 115th birthday. The woman considered the secret to her longevity to be the principle she applied all her life: “Speak whatever you think, don't hold back.”
“Elizabeth is a true Houston icon and a valued member of our community,” LongeviQuest, a longevity research company, said in a press release.
In August, it was reported that a woman from Spain, who held the title of oldest person in the world, passed away at the age of 117. The centenarian was born on March 4, 1907 in San Francisco, California, but later moved with his parents to Europe.
