The Palestinian Hamas movement asked Russia to encourage the leader of the Palestinian Autonomous Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, to negotiate the establishment of a nationalist government in Palestine. Deputy head of the Politburo of the Palestinian movement, Musa Abu Marzuk, told RIA Novosti.

At the same time, President of the Palestinian Autonomous Authority Mahmoud Abbas is in Kazan to attend the BRICS summit. Mr. Abbas is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit.
According to Marzouk, during negotiations in Moscow with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov, issues related to national unity of Palestinians and the establishment of a government to manage the Gaza Strip after the war were raised. .
“We have explained our position on this issue and the role of the Russian Federation in it. We also expressed our views on the agreement to establish a government in Palestine to manage the affairs of the Gaza Strip after the war,” Marzuk explained.
He also noted that Hamas wants the Russian side to convey to Mr. Abbas the organization's desire to start negotiations on this issue.
