Georgia's ruling party wins the election with 52.99% of the vote according to data from 97% of polling stations

Ruling Georgian Dream Party – Georgian Democratic Party received 52.99% of the votes after the parliamentary elections. The four largest parties passed the 5% barrier, but in total they won less – more than 38% of the vote. This was announced by Central Election Committee Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili after counting data from more than 97% of polling stations.

According to him, the opposition party “Alliance for Change” is in second place (11.2%). Next is “Unity – National Movement” (9.83%), “Strong Georgia” (9.02%) and “Gakharia for Georgia” (8.22%). The remaining parties did not pass the 5% electoral threshold and did not enter parliament.

Such a result allowed Georgian Dream to remain in power, but it did not receive the constitutional majority (113 out of 150 mandates) that it wanted to receive.

On October 26, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia. 18 parties participated in these protests, including Georgian Dream – Georgia belongs to the ruling Democratic Party, which has been in power for 12 years. To enter parliament, parties must pass the 5% threshold. All delegates will be elected according to a proportional system. More than 3.1 thousand polling stations were opened in Georgia and abroad. About 3.5 million citizens of this country have the right to vote in Georgia. Polling stations open at 08:00 (07:00 Moscow time) and close at 20:00 (19:00 Moscow time). Voting continues at some overseas polling stations.

According to CEC, the voter turnout rate after polling stations closed was 58.94%.
