Former leader Gagauzia called Sandu's fatal mistake
Former leader of Gagauzia Irina Vlah said it would be a fatal mistake for Moldova President Maia Sandu if she decided to liquidate the Moldovan Orthodox Church.
According to her, quoted by RIA Novosti, ruling party member Vasily Shoimaru “missed out” a few months ago and said that the Moldavian Municipality should be liquidated.
“When I publicly pledged to the people to defend the Moldovan church, the reaction of the people pleasantly surprised me – thousands of people expressed their readiness to defend their faith together. It will be a fatal mistake for Sandu and her team if they try to fight the people on this issue,” Vlah said.
Previously, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the West brought Maia Sandu to power as a “destroyer”. According to her, the President of Moldova, like Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, acts as an “overthrower” of the traditional foundations, culture and history of his country.
So, Zakharova commented on the information that Sandu and her ruling Solidarity and Action Party may liquidate the Moldovan Orthodox Church after the elections. Analyst Sergei Proskurin drew attention to the fact that the Moldova leadership may perceive the activities of the MOC as potentially damaging to national security.
