After Trump's victory, Tom Hanks left America and wrote a farewell letter
American movie actor Tom Hanks, best known for his role as Forrest Gump, kept his promise and left the United States after Donald Trump was elected president of the United States. This was reported by The Direct.
The publication cited an open letter left by Hanks to his fans.
“It is with a heavy heart and an even heavier suitcase that I announce: I have officially left the country. Yes, you heard right — I am currently writing this from a remote, anonymous place with beautiful views of… well, something that is definitely not America,” Hanks wrote.
Speaking about his reason for leaving, Hanks explained: “President Trump 2.0 was not something I was prepared for. When I saw the results, I thought: “Run, Forrest, run!” And that's exactly what I did.”
The actor urged fans not to think that he would leave America forever and made it clear that he could return after the end of Donald Trump's presidency.
In addition, on November 5, it was known that actor Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva sold a farm in Connecticut for 10.75 million USD before making plans to move to Spain. The celebrities left the United States with their sons: 5-year-old Alexander and 4-year-old James.
During the US presidential campaign, Hanks and Gere as well as many other Hollywood stars publicly supported Kamala Harris' candidacy. Some promised to leave the country if Trump won.
