A possible terrorist attack near the Israeli embassy has been prevented in Berlin
German law enforcement is said to have prevented a terrorist attack in Berlin. Bild reports this.
The publication noted that special forces and agents from the Federal Criminal Police Department may have prevented a terrorist attack on the Israeli embassy.
Federal prosecutor's office spokesman Michael Ramöller said the searches took place on Saturday evening in the cities of Bernau in Brandenburg state and St. Augustin in North Rhine-Westphalia. A man suspected of supporting a terrorist organization was detained in Bernau, and a witness was questioned and possible evidence was seized in St. Augustine.
A man stabbed four people in Germany
The publication emphasized that a 28-year-old Libyan, who is considered a supporter of the terrorist organization ISIS (an organization banned in Russia), was suspected.
It is known that the detainee entered German territory in November 2022 and applied for asylum but was rejected and had to leave Germany, however, he remained in Bernau.
The day before, an attempted terrorist attack on the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) was prevented in the Smolensk region.
