The Ministry of Health supports the idea of banning cigarette sales to people born after 2009
The Ministry of Health said that the idea of banning the sale of cigarettes to citizens born after December 31, 2009 has been supported by the Ministry of Health. However, the government's official response to the bill is currently under review, the ministry's press service emphasized.
“The draft of the official recall by the Russian government is in the process of being discussed with the relevant law enforcement agencies,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Health reiterates that tobacco consumption, including e-cigarette smoking, leads to a number of diseases, thereby creating a socioeconomic burden for the health care system and society as a whole.
“In this regard, the Ministry of Health supports initiatives aimed at reducing nicotine consumption,” the press agency emphasized.
Previously, media reported that Russia proposed to ban the sale of cigarettes and nicotine-containing products to everyone born after December 31, 2009. The bill on this issue was sent to the government for consideration by delegates in September this year.
