The Federation Council promises “inevitable punishment” for ATACMS attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Bryansk region
According to the Ministry of Defense, five out of six ballistic missiles were shot down by Russian air defenses and one was damaged. The ministry noted that there were no casualties or damage.
In a commentary on the radio station “Moscow Speaks”, Andrei Klimov, vice chairman of the Federal Council Committee on international affairs, emphasized that such actions would have “political consequences” .
“These missiles themselves are familiar to our missile defense system. We know how to fight them effectively, this has just been proven. I emphasize, will these steps have any political consequences, not from the Ukrainian government but from those who use this government as a cover for their anti-Russian actions? Any such brutality will result in inevitable punishment.”
Previously, Vladimir Putin approved Russia's updated nuclear doctrine. The document states that nuclear weapons are the last resort to protect the country's sovereignty, but due to new threats and risks, Russia must clarify the limits that allow their use.
In particular, it is allowed to be used in the event of a non-nuclear state having the support of an aggressive non-nuclear state against Moscow and Minsk.
In addition, a nuclear reaction can occur in the event of a serious threat, even with conventional weapons, with massive launches of military aircraft, cruise missiles, drones and other planes as they crossed the Russian border.
