Lavrov: The Kremlin clearly stated its assessment of the phone call between Putin and Scholz
The Kremlin stated its assessment of the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz and had nothing to add. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters about this.
Let's remember that on Friday, Putin and Scholz had a telephone conversation. This is the first contact between politicians since December 2022 and took place at the initiative of the German side.
Foreign Minister Lavrov commented on the EU's call for peace
Mr. Lavrov said that the Kremlin has announced the Russian side's position on this conversation.
There is nothing more to say, the Kremlin clearly stated its assessment, RIA Novosti quoted the Foreign Minister.
He also said that he read messages from Scholz's office after his conversation with Putin.
Mr. Lavrov noted that condemning “Russian aggression” and declaring their intention to stand with Ukraine as long as necessary is what the countries of the European Union and NATO declare publicly and in any case .
However, the Minister added, when statements were made “will be with Ukraine as long as necessary”, the question arises who needs this.
Certainly not Ukrainians, Mr. Lavrov concluded.
Previously, the Kremlin called the dialogue between Putin and Scholz a positive fact. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov added that efforts were underway to compare views. He emphasized that the political will to directly acknowledge this point of view cannot but cause satisfaction.
