It is well known how Trump's election influenced discussions on Ukraine at the United Nations
The topic of the Ukraine conflict took on a different dimension at the United Nations after Republican Donald Trump won the US presidential election. First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the world organization Dmitry Polyansky stated this at a press conference, writes.
“They began to actively comment on it (theme about Ukraine – Gazeta.Ru) and make forecasts,” the diplomat explained.
On November 12, First Vice Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa said that the US President-elect has the opportunity to contribute to resolving the Ukraine crisis even before the administration takes office in January 2025. Trump will be able to achieve this if the plan his team is developing to end the armed conflict is tied to corresponding initiatives of the Russian leadership.
The Deputy Minister also expressed confidence that the Republican party can now put pressure on current US leader Joe Biden. At the same time, Trump's lack of legal authority to resolve foreign policy issues before the inauguration will not prevent this, the congressman concluded.
