Tips to overcome Metaphor: ReFantazio
Unlike previous Atlus games, Metaphor: ReFantazio doesn't actually require a tutorial to complete the side content. Persona fans might object to the idea of playing off-beat to maximize every second of a 120-hour game, but in Metaphor there really isn't much need for that. However, there are a few small things you should know first. PC Gamer portal shared useful tips for those who are just starting to play.
Find mana sellers
It is better to complete the dungeons in Metaphor: ReFantazio in one day of play, so that the remaining time before the deadline can be devoted to other activities. However, in the early stages of the game, you may find yourself running out of energy. To save resources, don't heal your teammates with skills – use healing items. Also, find a water merchant in the city where you are staying: he is guaranteed to sell a limited amount of energy drinks.
Join the debate
As you progress the story in the capital, keep an eye out for the podiums in the cities where the party ends. Sometimes they refer to political opponents with whom you can debate. They are always worth your time, because successful debates not only bring money but also improve two characteristics at the same time. Each debate opponent appears in town only once – don't miss it!
Do the side quest before the main quest
However, this advice may seem strange to those who have played the Persona series. Almost every story dungeon is harder than the side dungeons, especially early in the game. And completing side quests will help you level up, get hold of powerful equipment, and level up your archetype—thanks to this, you'll be able to complete the story quest in one day. Additionally, you'll save on mana replenishers, because… Maximum magic reserves increase with each level.
Be generous
Before focusing on other stats, level up your generosity to level 2. There are two good reasons for this. Level 2 of Generosity allows you to purify items in the capital's cathedral: purified weapons and armor are some of the best equipment in the game. It also gives access to the thread of one of the most important supporters…
Improve your relationship with Maria soon
Maria may not seem like a high-priority supporter, but the fourth and seventh ranks in her branch are extremely important. The fourth allows you to cook food without raising the time of day and gives a bonus to experience points when won. And the seventh rank increases the effectiveness of these bonuses. These are a must if you want to get the most out of your first playthrough.
Level up your healer archetype as soon as possible
It is necessary to level up the healer to complete Mora's quest – he asks the main character to upgrade the prototype to level 15. But in fact, the healer itself is very useful: the healing and Eliminating bad bugs will come in handy later in the game. And most enemies in the first story dungeon are vulnerable to light damage.
Upgrade your main character to magic
This last tip is subjective but it can make the game much easier. The main character is the only party member whose traits can be allocated manually when leveled up. The way the remaining characters are built is largely predetermined. Strol focuses on attack, Hulkenberg on endurance, Esmer on agility, etc. Of course you will then meet people who are good at being mages, but this will happen around the middle of the game. Until then, the person who does best will be the main character.
