Tips for completing God of War Ragnarok on PC
God of War Ragnarok has finally released on PC – two years after its release on PlayStation 4 and 5. The game is similar in many ways to its predecessor, but there are enough new nuances to confuse you here and there. Polygon portal has shared tips for completing Ragnarok without spoilers.
Watch the retelling of the plot of the first part
From Ragnarok's main menu, you can play a short two-minute video summarizing the main points of the original 2018 game. You don't even have to think about it. The video is edited in a very specific way and leaves many questions, even if you think you roughly remember the plot. Better to watch a normal narrative somewhere on YouTube.
You can return missing items
Ragnarok, like its predecessor, has a metroidvania feel. Along the way, you will often encounter environmental elements that clearly hide some kind of secret behind them, but Kratos does not have the necessary equipment to pave the way. Don't waste time looking for a solution that doesn't exist – move on. The game almost always gives you the opportunity to return to previous locations after receiving the necessary equipment.
Side roads lead to collectibles
Ragnarok follows the ancient rule of video game branches: if Atreus turns left to go to a story mission, there will almost certainly be some kind of collectible on the right.
Teleportation restores health
Mystical portal that you can use to travel between locations in Ragnarok, always restoring your health and rage. Additionally, when you die, you will respawn near the lost battle with full health. In some cases, if we talk about some long battles, it makes sense to die at the beginning of the battle to start again with full resources.
Each side quest is worth your time
To be fair, yes, some of the side quests in Ragnarok fit into the give-and-take category. For every character development and radical world-changing quest, there are three quests to find collectible nonsense. However, every mission is worth completing for the rewards. Sometimes they bring rare resources and sometimes new weapons.
Two shields are better than one
At the beginning of the game, you can choose one of two shields for Kratos. The first improves parrying, while the second protects more reliably from attacks and allows you to stun opponents with powerful blows. Ragnarok presents this dilemma when choosing starter Pokemon, but it's not nearly as serious. Shield number two can be obtained by collecting enough resources and won't take too much time.
Keep the armor but sell the artifact
The original God of War has a fairly standard equipment system. Players receive equipment, use it until it becomes obsolete, and then sell it for cheap. In Ragnaro things are a bit more complicated. Each set of armor can be upgraded, and it makes sense to keep them until the end of the game to gain specific bonuses to traits.
At the same time, feel free to sell other artifacts and collectibles. They don't need to be stored in your inventory for the game to count garbage in statistics for quests and achievements.
