Tips for completing Dragon Age: The Veilguard

If you're not yet interested in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, don't rush into it: there are a few things you should know before playing. PC Gamer Portal shared helpful tips on leveling up, the combat system, and other important details.

Tips for completing Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The game allows you to wear any type of armor

There are no armor class limitations in The Veilguard. Mages can wear heavy armor, and warriors can wear elegant woven robes. In terms of characteristics, they will most likely not be suitable, but this is not always the case. For example, some specializations provide bonuses to certain types of armor. And if you only care about aesthetics, then you can always change the appearance of the armor using a mirror in the main character's room.

Customize your navigation options

One of the most useful options in The Veilguard is the expanded navigation options. Or rather, interface elements tell you where to go. You can turn them off completely and customize the visibility of objective markers, hints, quest log, and mini-map. Turning off the interface completely is a good way to enjoy the scenery, and it won't affect your navigation too much. Furthermore, you can activate objective markers at certain intervals so that the game occasionally reminds you of which direction to move.

Opponents can be pushed from above

Veilguard does not have a dedicated button for kicking or other methods of pushing enemies from great heights, but they can still be knocked out of battle. If you perform a long combo chain while the enemy is standing behind a ledge, sometimes the target will be thrown back – potentially falling into the abyss. Sometimes this trick helps you quickly deal with unpleasant enemies.

You can flirt with anyone, the game doesn't punish you for it

If you can't decide who to choose as your romantic partner for the current playthrough, no problem – you can flirt left and right. Unlike previous Dragon Ages, where romantic paths were sometimes begun by chance, The Veilguard asks multiple times whether you actually want to start a relationship with a party member. And you'll become an “official” couple only after the third act – until then, everyone's allowed innocent flirting.

Destroy the boxes

It's hard to pay attention to your surroundings in The Veilguard because there's always tons of trash around, but the boxes are still worth paying attention to. They not only store materials but also store valuable items that will bring profit. Considering that everything in the game costs gold, you better get into the habit of smashing boxes right away.

Rook has treasure radar

As the game allows you to explore locations more freely, there will be many treasures to be found in the world. Many chests can be found easily, but others are hidden in less obvious places. The good news is that Rook has some kind of radar. Periodically look at the minimap: if the treasure icon flashes above it, it means there is a chest somewhere nearby. The faster the icon flashes, the closer you are to your goal.
