The expiration date for PlayStation Stars points has been reduced to 12 months.
Sony has announced changes to the PlayStation Stars rewards system, allowing players to earn points and spend them on digital rewards or redeem them for games.
The PlayStation Stars program launched in October 2022 and runs on the PlayStaton mobile app. Users received points for purchases on the PlayStation Store and for completing various challenges within the app.
However, starting March 1, 2025, some program conditions will change – in particular, program points will no longer be awarded when purchasing or renewing a PlayStation Plus subscription.
Additionally, Sony has made changes to the “expiration date” of points – reducing the period from 24 to 12 months. Otherwise, points will be lost. The new conditions take effect on October 24.
Previously, users began to complain about problems with the program – some players lost some options, while others could not spend points on their goals. It seems that all these difficulties are tied to changes in the system's rules.
Previously, users actively criticized the PlayStation Stars system itself, because to get the game it was necessary to earn a huge number of points.
Players calculate that for every dollar, users are rewarded with 10 points, but to exchange they need about 6,000 points or more. For example, the horror game The Quarry was even offered for 17,500 thousand points.
