Remedy shows off the improvements to Alan Wake 2 for PlayStation 5 Pro in a new video
Even at the time of the PlayStation 5 Pro announcement, Sony announced that several games from partners would receive improvements for the more powerful console, including Alan Wake 2. Developers from Remedy Entertainment boasted one of the first performances – the terrible adventures of Alan Wake and Saga Anderson became even more exciting.
In the video you can see a visual comparison of Alan Wake 2 on the standard PlayStation 5 and on the PS5 Pro. For example, in quality mode, reflections become much more realistic and lighting becomes “wider”. It's all about ray tracing that has arrived. The difference is especially noticeable on glass and similar surfaces, where there are simply no reflections on a standard panel.
In performance mode on PS5 Pro, you can expect a steady 60 FPS with improved visuals and increased resolution. This is illustrated in an action scene in which Alan fires back at agile enemies with supernatural abilities. However, there will be no ray tracing in this mode.
An in-depth analysis is also devoted to the improvements made to the PS5 Pro. Remedy says it has had to put a lot of effort into its own engine to take advantage of all the power available from the improved console. All modes will use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling technology, and Alan Wake 2 itself, due to its rich detail, is an ideal game for adding ray tracing.
The developers note that work on improving Alan Wake 2 was mainly focused on selecting the desired effects and optimizations. The problem is that Remedy already has experience adding ray tracing to Control on PS5 and Xbox Series after the game first launched on the previous generation. Additionally, Alan Wake 2 now has ray tracing on PC.
You'll only be able to play Alan Wake 2 on PS5 Pro on November 7, when the console hits shelves. And on October 22, The Lake House expansion will release on all platforms, as well as a free update with quality-of-life features in honor of the game's upcoming anniversary .
