Metaphor: ReFantazio trades the typical high school setting of the Persona series for a brutal, post-apocalyptic political fantasy world. The game leans heavily on the Persona formula, though, so many fans expected the project to also have romantic plots involving the party members.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), there are no romantic branches in Metaphor: ReFantazio. The main character simply does not have time to deal with his personal life while saving the whole kingdom from the clutches of a tyrant.

While the game doesn't have a romance mechanic, some of the supporting storylines definitely hint at romantic feelings – each quite directly.

Metaphor: ReFantazio strongly implies that the protagonist's most likely partner will be the priestess Mustari Yufa, the fifth member to join the group.
