How combat respawns work in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Although the difficulty settings in Dragon Age: The Veilguard are quite flexible, even a hardcore player is not immune from occasional mistakes – and death. But this does not necessarily mean that the battle will have to start again. PC Gamer Portal explains how the respawn mechanic works in battle.

How combat respawns work in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

To revive a fallen protagonist in The Veilguard, you need a special resurrection charge provided by equipment. The system is a bit strange: you might think that these fees are special items that need to be found or purchased. But no, they require devices with specific characteristics.

Typically, the fee is based on accessories, such as jewelry or belts, but each item clearly states that it will incur a fee. Sometimes such items will also give some kind of additional effect if the main character uses the charge on himself. The problem is that most of these devices are only sold in stores that have upgraded to level three. And leveling up often requires grinding, collecting gold and other resources needed to increase your reputation.

The first item to grant Revive Charge will likely be Bellara's accessory – but again, you'll have to sacrifice a lot of gold and resources first. Davrin, Lukanis, and the main character himself all have similar equipment. Some of these items can be purchased from a merchant in Crossroads, which will open later.

With the available funds, if you fall in battle and at least one party member is alive, the game will automatically prompt you to return to the battle without loading a previous save. Charge reserves are updated during each battle.
