Fallout: New Vegas game director said it will help Diablo 2 sell Icewind Dale
Josh Sawyer is known for participating in the development of many famous role-playing games. For example, he was the game director of Fallout: New Vegas, but his debut project was Icewind Dale, where Sawyer was the game designer. It turns out he considers the release of Diablo 2 one of the reasons for the game's success.
Both games were released with slight differences (Josh recalls that both RPGs were even released on the same day). Gamers generally accept that the already famous Blizzard project has overshadowed Icewind Dale, but Sawyer has the opposite opinion. It's all about similarity in genre and setting.
According to the developer, fans of isometric and role-playing games are already lining up for Diablo 2. On the shelves they saw the new Icewind Dale, which also has a fantasy style and RPG genre. This is what initially attracted gamers to the Diablo sequel.
“Icewind Dale was released on the same day as Diablo 2, which sounds like a disastrous release, but it actually turned out pretty well. There were a lot of people waiting in line to buy Diablo 2, but many buyers loved fantasy and isometric games, so they asked: “Icewind Dale – what is it?” Yeah, we'll play that too,” Josh Sawyer said.
The best way to play Josh Sawyer's first game right now is Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. It was released in 2014 and is not only adapted for modern PCs but also includes all the add-ons that have been released.
