Demand for consoles is growing in Russia, with the PS5 and Xbox Series leading the way

The M.Video-Eldorado group of companies shared statistics on sales of game consoles in Russia from January to September. Total sales of devices exceeded 1.02 million units for a total of 22 .3 billion rubles.

The retailer notes that demand for gaming consoles in Russia is increasing. Thus, in the same period of 2023, Russians bought about 850 thousand set-top boxes. PlayStation remains the absolute leader here – PS5 sales account for about 70% of the Russian market in monetary terms. Xbox accounts for about 9.7% of the market, followed by Steam Deck (7.5%) and Nintendo Switch (5.1%).

M.Video-Eldorado notes that a significant part of the Russian console market is occupied by classic devices: from January to September, 433 thousand such devices were sold. The retailer expects that demand for gaming consoles will increase further once the PlayStation 5 Pro hits shelves.
