Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake (real name Sami Antero Jarvi) will receive a prestigious award for his contributions to the gaming industry.

We're talking about the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, presented by the New York Video Game Critics Circle (NYVGCC).

It honors all those who “have moved the world of gaming forward” and have had a “profound impact on an industry that continues to engage and unite people around the world.” The awards ceremony will take place at the New York Game Awards on January 21, 2025.

Sam Lake has worked for Remedy since 1995 and has written the scripts for Death Rally, Max Payne, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break, Control and Alan Wake 2.

Previous recipients of this award include The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann, Xbox head Phil Spencer, Double Fine adventure founder and legend Tim Shafer, Hideo Kojima (we all know the that name) and former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé.
