Young people from Russia and the world dance together at the Dubai Opera Ball

Representatives of International Friendship Clubs from 12 regions of Russia and foreign students of RUDN from 15 countries performed at the Dubai Opera Ball in the UAE. Advising the head of Rosmolodezh on international issues, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate Daniil Bisslinger told RG in detail:

“In each pair, one of the participants represents our country, the other – a foreigner. The dance has become the embodiment of international dialogue and friendship, loved by Russian youth and The whole world supports. This event proves that there are no borders for young people, they want to exchange, learn about each other's traditions and create common cultural and social projects.”

As part of 15 pairs, young people from Russia and abroad performed their debut dance to the works of Johann Strauss the Younger. Foreign participants in the ball include representatives from China, Algeria, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast, Turkey, Bolivia, India, Latvia, Zambia, Benin, Turkmenistan, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and Belarus .

“Participating in the ball was a unique experience for me, I had never danced before,” said Gutiérrez Benavides Esteban Josué, the first to arrive from Costa Rica. “In my opinion, this international cultural event gives young people from different countries the opportunity to interact and share. their experiences and hear from your colleagues from around the world.”

Said one after another: “During rehearsals and preparations for the ball, we got acquainted with the culture of participants from 15 countries, learned their traditions and history. a debut dancer from Russia, Elizaveta Moskalenko, member of the International Friendship Club of the Altai Territory.

Russia is also represented by young people from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaluga, Tula, Volgograd, Pskov, Tver region, Kabardino-Balkaria, Tatarstan, Mordovia and Karelia.

The rehearsal took place at the RUDN University site in Moscow. The International Basketball Association, headed by dance master Mikhail Gribov, was involved in training young people. According to him, newcomers to the cultural event have only 4 days to prepare and the entire dance lasts 8 minutes, which is a serious challenge for beginners.

“I'm very inspired because the guys are so cool and positive. It felt like we had practiced before. At the same time, most of the guys have never danced in pairs – this is their first experience. The pairs are divided into representatives of different countries and regions of Russia. If something is wrong with a couple, they will support each other,” shares Mikhail Gribov.

The International Friendship Club is the flagship project of the Board of Directors of the World Youth Festival. Clubs are open in 89 regions of Russia and on the Sirius federal territory.

The World Youth Day is held from March 1 to March 7, 2024 in Sirius and brings together 20 thousand young leaders from 190 countries.

According to the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, WPF will be held regularly in Russia – every six years and every six years, 10 thousand young people from all over the world will gather at the National Youth Festival. Internationally, between these events, under the auspices of WPF, international themed gatherings and other events will be organized.
