Tsiskaridze criticized the pricing policy of Russian theaters
Principal of the Russian Ballet Academy Agrippina Vaganova Nikolai Tsiskaridze and People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Tsiskaridze said that the price of theater tickets compared to the average salary is unusual. RIA Novosti reports this.
Tsiskaridze made this statement in a lecture he gave within the framework of the educational marathon “Knowledge. The firsts.” The People's Artist of Russia noted that, according to him, due to the price policy, today only rich people can go to the theater. He said that when he was an artist at the Bolshoi Theater, the hall always packed with people.
“Now when I come to see the empty seats, I feel very sad. People cannot buy tickets. The main tickets are from speculators on Teatralnaya Square. This is sad,” Tsiskaridze complained about the current situation.
He also reiterated that the country's main cinemas are supported by the budget and are therefore accessible to ordinary audiences. In particular, the artist said that the Bolshoi Theater received about 5 billion rubles from the state.
“This amount is not small at all. I believe there should be a separate tour program for those who want to,” he concluded.
Previously, Tsiskaridze spoke out about the cancellation of concerts by Russian artists abroad. According to him, this is just a temporary phenomenon.
