Chechnya's Department of Spiritual Management of Muslims (DUM) has denied information posted on social networks about allowing marriage for girls at the age of 14. This was reported on the ministry's Telegram channel.

“The information being spread that marriage is allowed for girls at the age of 14 is untrue,” the statement said.

The DUM reminds the people of the republic that they cannot trust news from unreliable sources.

The day before, State Duma Deputy Minister from the Chechen Republic Adam Delimkhanov announced his intention to lift the ban on wearing the hijab and niqab in schools in the Vladimir region. A post with related content appeared on his Telegram channel. The Vladimir regional government responded to criticism of the ban on headscarves in schools, noting that the decision is in accordance with the Constitution, education law and the opinion of the Supreme Court.
