The first snowfall in St. Petersburg is expected to take place in the second half of this week. This was announced by the head of the weather forecasting service of the Northern capital, Alexander Kolesov.
According to him, although the weather was relatively warm in October, the cold spell previously promised for the second half of the week has not been canceled.
“Everything is serious,” the expert wrote on his Telegram channel. There will be snow and wind, the main issue is how the storm will move relative to St. Petersburg.
Currently, a cold front is passing over St. Petersburg. But even taking into account this factor and the upcoming significant cooling, according to Kolesov, the third ten days of October still “set a record” for unusually warm weather for this time of year. Deviation from climatic standards has exceeded 2 degrees.
“Today in St. Petersburg is still warm, up to +10 degrees, and on October 30, when the next storm releases, the air temperature will reach +9 degrees. So a very warm period is underway. the second half of this October,” the chief forecaster explained.
Please add that, according to information from the Russian Emergency Directorate, it is expected that on October 28, many places in St. Petersburg will have wind gusts of up to 15 m/s.
