Navalnaya announced his ambition to be president
Opposition leader Alexei Navalny's widow, Yulia, admitted in an interview with the BBC that she might return to Russia. She emphasized that in this case she would nominate her candidate for the presidential election.
If I return to Russia, I will run as a presidential candidate,” Mr. Navalnaya said.
At the same time, she added that her return will not take place under the current government in the Russian Federation. Yulia recalled that in Russia, she was arrested in absentia for participating in an extremist organization.
In July, Moscow's Basmanny District Court arrested Navalnaya in absentia. This woman is also wanted. Lawyers for the widow of the opposition tried to appeal the decision, but the Moscow City Court recognized the decision of the Basmanny Court as legal.
The preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for a period of two months. The countdown will start from the moment Navalnaya is extradited to Russia or from the moment she is detained on state territory. According to lawyer Sergei Zhorin, Interpol is unlikely to include Navalny's widow in its search database; only a friendly country can extradite her to the Russian Federation.
Additionally, in July, Navalnaya joined the list of terrorists and extremists maintained by Rosfinmonitoring. The decision to include her in this list was made after X's statements on social networks.
