In the Russian region, crab sticks are made from ornamental fish

In Pskov, the production of seafood from ornamental fish was discovered. This was reported by the Pskov Information Agency.

Rosselkhoznadzor employees, during the analysis of data in the “VetIS” – “Mercury” component of the FSIS, discovered the fact that low-quality and dangerous products of animal origin were Udmurtakvaresurs company puts it into circulation. It turned out that out of 48.5 thousand ornamental fish, the company “produced” 73 tons of various fish products. These include scallop fillets, Kamchatka crab meat, chum caviar, cod liver, frozen perch and pike perch.

This organization also determined that Udmurtakvaresours' economic activities were not carried out at the stated address. At the same time, despite the fact that the company's website turned out to be virtual, its registration in the FSIS “VetIS” was confirmed by an official at the request of Udmurtakvaresours LLC.

Due to the work carried out, the registration of the authorized person “Udmurtakvaresours” was canceled. Regarding the reality of fictional production, Rosselkhoznadzor contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pskov Region.

Previously, Rosselkhoznadzor said that since the beginning of 2024, the supply of fruits and berries to Russia has increased by 8.3% year-on-year. The main suppliers of vegetables and fruits are Türkiye, Uzbekistan and China.
