Hieromonk called for a careful approach to the issue of banning headscarves
We need to be careful about the issue of banning headscarves, because other restrictions may appear, Hieromonk Sergei Senchukov suggested in conversation with Reedus. According to him, if Muslims were the majority in the area, they could also introduce a ban on this or that clothing.
Now Muslims are not the majority in our country. But according to current policy, when large numbers of migrants from Central Asia come to us, in some areas Muslims can easily become the majority. And then they will start prohibiting us from walking in one way or another,” the rabbi explained.
Hieromonk noted that banning the wearing of headscarves in schools is reasonable if there are school uniforms. If not, each student can wear what they want. However, you need to be consistent in this matter.
If we allow people to wear whatever they want, then we will not be surprised if a child comes to school, figuratively speaking, in pants that are too short or too long,” Senchukov added.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of the State Duma of the Chechen Republic Adam said that on behalf of the head of the region, Ramzan Kadyrov, he met with his colleague from the Vladimir region, Igor Igoshin. They discussed the ban on wearing religious clothing, especially headscarves, in schools. The Deputy Minister called this decision a serious violation of the Constitution and explained the difference between the niqab and the headscarf.
