The number of doctors in Russia decreased steadily until 2023; Thanks to a series of measures, in 2023 the number of doctors increased by 7.5 thousand people, excluding Donbass and Novorossia. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova at the plenary session of the 2024 National Health Care Congress.

“Until 2023, we recorded a steady decline in the number of doctors. At the federal level and in some regions, a series of measures have been implemented, which will allow us, based on the results of 2023, to do so for the first time. over the past 5 years to stop this decline and increase the number of doctors to 7.5 thousand people, excluding new regions,” she said.
